Headteacher's Welcome

“learning today for a better tomorrow”

“dysgu heddiw am well yfory”

Our school is a place where pupils feel safe, known and cared for. We work across three sites in Port Talbot, supporting learners aged 3 to 16 with a wide range of additional learning needs. Every child who walks through our doors is welcomed as an individual, with their own strengths, interests and goals.

Safeguarding and wellbeing sit at the heart of everything we do. Pupils learn best when they feel secure, listened to and understood, so our staff put relationships first. From the classroom to the corridor, you will find calm, consistent adults who know our children well.

We hold high aspirations for every learner. Our curriculum is built around the principles of Curriculum for Wales and shaped to meet the needs of pupils with ASD, BESN and CLD. We want our young people to grow in confidence, communication and independence, ready for the next step in their lives.

We are proud of our Welsh identity and our commitment to bilingualism through Siarter Iaith. We are equally proud to be a Rights Respecting School, where pupils learn about the world around them and their place within it.

Our staff team is dedicated, skilled and reflective. We work closely with families, professionals and the wider community of Neath Port Talbot to give pupils the best possible experience of school. Honest communication with parents and carers matters to us, because the strongest progress happens when home and school pull in the same direction.

You will find information across this website about our provisions, our curriculum and the day-to-day life of the school. If you would like to know more, please get in touch or arrange a visit. We would be delighted to show you around.

Diolch.

Mr R Duford

Acting Headteacher

School closure update: 24/06/27

The Met Office has issued an extreme high temperature warning for our area. After careful thought, we have taken the difficult decision to close the school on Wednesday 24 June and Thursday 25 June. This applies across all three sites.

We did not make this decision lightly. Our buildings reach high temperatures in this weather and many of our learners feel the effects of extreme heat more than most. Their complex needs and vulnerabilities shaped this decision. Keeping them safe and looking after their wellbeing come first.

Our planned INSET days follow straight after, on Friday 26 June and Monday 29 June. These are staff training days with no learners in school, as already scheduled. Learners return on Tuesday 30 June.

A closure at short notice affects your plans at home. We are grateful for your understanding. If you have a worry about your child over these days, please contact the school in the usual way and we will help.
