Welsh Rugby Union (WRU)
The Benefits of Rugby in YHF
Through rugby, students can learn how to communicate new ideas, use communication to address problems collectively as a team, and listen to other individuals as part of a group. Rugby is a great enabler in breaking down social barriers that some of the pupils may face.
The after-school rugby club allows pupils to gain important social skills as well as improve their mental and physical health in a safe and fun environment.
What we do
The main focus of after school rugby club is fun and enjoyment for all pupils. We often play a mix of rugby-style evasion games that help to improve pupils’ spatial awareness and overall fitness.
We also focus on improving pupils’ coordination and problem-solving skills by doing fun rugby drills that make pupils think whilst being in a game situation.
WRU Hub Officer Role
The role of a Hub Officer is to promote and develop rugby union within the Educational setting.
In a school, a Hub Officer will primarily be required to promote and develop rugby during curriculum time whilst applying the 4 purposes of the new Welsh curriculum.
A Hub Officer will also try to establish extra-curricular activity which engages boys and girls of all abilities and backgrounds to allow the game to grow in Wales.
