Pumpkin Madness with Class 5
A Fantastic Final Week of the Half Term.
What an incredible final week of the half term we’ve had! We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all our families for their tremendous support throughout this term. Your encouragement means the world to our pupils
This week, we decided to celebrate autumn with a delicious pumpkin soup project.
The pupils had a fantastic time shopping for ingredients, turning it into an invaluable life experience. Weighing the pumpkins at the shop, exploring the differences between best before and expiry dates, and discovering the most affordable options within their budget was both educational and fun! Of course, they couldn’t resist picking up something sweet for dessert and a special pumpkin for carving.
Laughter filled the kitchen as we got cooking! The children practised important skills like chopping, peeling, and dicing while learning about kitchen safety and hygiene. They followed a multi-step recipe which really tested their listening and teamwork skills. This activity also provided a perfect opportunity to delve deeper into our science topic of reversible and irreversible changes.
Initially, many of the children were unsure if they’d like the soup, but they all agreed to give it a try. To their surprise, they absolutely loved it and happily helped themselves to bowls of the scrumptious soup paired with crusty bread. They even remembered to take some home to share with their families!

What a way to wrap up the half term! Enjoy your break, everyone!
