Class 4 - Christmas Term
Looking back on the Autumn Term
As we are fast approaching Christmas and the end of the last Autumn Term for Year 11, it has been lovely looking back at everything we have done so far.
We are steadily working through our class work and making sure that all our coursework and BTEC SWEET projects are progressing well. The time is going quickly, and it will soon be time for exams. In Mechanics, we have completed two of the four assessments. One was health and safety in the workshop and the other was changing a wheel independently. Everyone passed with flying colours!
We have been lucky enough to have some fun outdoor activities with the Cynnydd Team. So far this term we have been gorge walking, rock climbing, trying the assault course and archery. Some of the activities have been challenging, but everyone has had a go. Well done. We are really looking forward to paintballing next. Look out Steve and Liam!
We have started a new CSCS qualification in Skills and Training in Tir Morfa in Port Talbot. So far we have completed Entry 3 in Employability and the Groundworks qualification, which has involved lots of practical work. We have successfully completed strimming, brush cutting, hedge trimming and mowing qualifications and feel confident using this equipment. Next term will be site safety, working at heights and first aid. All very useful for us when we leave and are looking at our next steps.
Careers Wales have started working with us this term. We are looking at our skills and strengths, completing careers quizzes, CVs and interview techniques. Mel is working with us all to help us decide what we want to do next year and giving us lots of options for courses and training.
In amongst all the hard work, we had some Christmas fun too, with a lovely Christmas dinner, lots of Christmas craft and baking and an appearance from the Grinch and a Christmas Elf! (see photos in the Gallery)
Merry Christmas !
